Links for Growth

I have been through many challenges and lessons in my life. Each of them helped shape the person that I am today so I am so grateful. Here are just a few links to a few favorite sites that have truly helped me grow, heal and be happy! I added a brief history of how or why I found the resource and how it helped me. I hope this information is helpful to anyone seeking healing, hope and growth in their life!

In 1995, my father was officially diagnosed with ALS. I say officially because he had strange symptoms for 2 years prior to his diagnosis.

[ALS, or Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, often referred to as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease,” is a progressive neuro-degenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed while their brains remain full functioning.]

Back in the 90’s, little was known about this terrible disease and my father was told to start “getting things in order” because most patients with ALS died within 2-5 years and he already had it for 2. The news of his illness and fatal timeline affected me deeply and suddenly. My father, a retired military sergeant, big, active, fun, a larger than life man was also my best friend. The thought of losing him sent me into a depression and anxiety spiral that I didn’t even realize until a couple of years later. A friend purchased a program for me from the Midwest Center for Anxiety & Depression – now called StressCenter. It was a lifesaver! I can never repay that friend or say enough about this program. It truly saved my life. My father, so strong and stubborn (hmmm…sounds familiar) survived more than 17 years with ALS!!!! What an inspiration! I love you Dad and thank you for watching over me and my family!

Below are the links to both my local ALS Chapter where our family helped in fundraising efforts but also to the Midwest Center.

Me and My Dad

Me and My Dad

Several years ago (more like 15, wow!) I was introduced to the books of Dr. Wayne Dyer by a friend of mine. It was during a time in my life when I really needed some guidance and help to be assertive and take charge of my life. His books, seminars and movies have truly changed my life and been a huge inspiration for me. I had the privilege of meeting Dr. Dyer in San Jose when I ran into him in the elevator of the hotel where we were staying. He shook my hand and I am not kidding you – I felt his peace, presence and “connectedness” to the world and God through that hand shake. He was truly a gift! I wish I could have spent more time with him (I had a lot of questions…hehe). I have even called into his free radio show for advice on HayHouse Radio. Below is the link to his website and to HayHouse where I continue to find inspiration, healing and joy each time I visit.

Finally, DailyOM. I signed up for their free newsletter a couple years ago. The messages always seem to be directed to me. And the healing classes they offer are at an incredible price. I have purchased many and always see transformation in my life. Enjoy!

May these resources help you in your own healing.
